As a loyal Accor hotel customer, first time in a 25hours hotel. There's no online check-in. This hotel wants to sell you the idea it's for hipsters. Hipsters don't do online checkins. They obviously love waiting in line and then filling out forms on paper. Funnily enough, this hotel is full of 50 year old men having a mid-life crisis ;-). It's a very male vibe, which is a bit outdated. Playroom, Vinyl room, ... very manycavy.
Anyway, the rooms are very well designed, airco is silent and works well (was 40 degrees outside). Very well done, with plenty of clever storage space.
The restaurant (Heimat) is also excellent.
But as much as I wanted to love this hotel, the total absence of wifi in my room (and the unwillingness of staff to look into is - remember they try to act out cool)) made me rate this only 3 stars.
Checkout took 30 minutes, as the apple pcs might be hip, but or they're either horribly slow or the staff doesn't know how to deal with them.
So in short, as they're only 25% owned by Accor, they threw out everything that makes Accor hotels good (but not necessarily cool) and replaced it with a fake cool vibe (that's not very functional). At the end of the day it doesn't really deliver.
And that's a shame, because working wifi, helpful staff and a little less fakeness would make this hotel rate 5 stars. It's certainly worth your visit when you're in Hamburg. And I'm sure they will act constructively on this review, so your stay there will be great!
