Coming to Freiburg, taking the cable car is a good experience. You can see the whole city as the cable car reaches the heights. As soon as the cable car arrives, the well-known Dattler (Dattler Schlossbergrestaurant) is next to it, which is super convenient for those who don't want to climb the mountain. I can feel that operating a cable car is not an easy task. Thank you for your maintenance.

A cute experience. This train helps us cross first half of the hill so we can save some energy to climb the next half and the tower on top. The experience of climbing the tower is aust have if you are in the area. Especially on a windy day, you will feel the tower move as you climb up, and finally you'll have a lovely view of the city and surrounding black forest region.

this was a waste of money and time. for the few meters that this sailbahn takes you to the top makes no sense and is a waste of time. its more enjoyable to go by foot and then you are there. only if you have problems walking makes sense to use this teleferic

Our first day holiday in the Black Forrest and we went with our Rottweiler Molly to the beautiful city of Freiburg. We had breakfast at a wonderful Eiscafe at the Rathausplatz and from there we walked through the city, guided by the impressive "Bägle". Suddenly we did see a small furnicular to the mountain that oversees Freiburg. You can buy your tickets at the bottom at a machine. You can pay cash or with card. The system is fully automatic and has no staff. Our dog went on it for free (again, we have a small Rottweiler ????). Took some beautiful pictures there, had a cappuccino and went back. A beautiful first day.

Don't know why this funicular gets such a poor rating. It's actually in great condition and takes 3 minutes to each way. It's 3 Euros one way or 5 round-trip. It's not a long distance up so you can just walk up the hill, but if you are bringing lots of stuff (or kids/elderly parents), it's worth the short ride up. I noticed most of the folks went up to the cafe on the hill, right after you exit on the top. I didn't try myself, but if you are curious you could give it a shot. Once you are up there, there are many trails and lots of vantage points of the entire city.
