We had an absolutely wonderful time in Freiburg, and Green City Hotel Vauban was a big part of why it was such a great visit. The hotel is super clean, modern, and perfectly appointed. The bed and sheets were very comfortable, the bathroom spotless, and loved the natural wood throughout. What was especially nice was the soundproofing. The windows are triple insulated and wow, the doors throughout the hotel are heavy! And despite the heat outside, the climate control kept us comfortable throughout the night.

Perhaps best of all, the hotel puts a premium on being environmentally friendly and inclusive to all, which I really wish many more hotels would do. A good reminder for us all.

Lastly, the location was perfect. We were visiting primarily to explore Freiburg, and this was the perfect launching point. The tram picks up direct from the hotel’s front door, and it’s less than 15 minutes to downtown. And, great hiking spots from the hotel (Jesuit Schloss with great views of the city), wine tasting close by, and exploring the Vauban district — a must.

Our thanks to the exceptional staff of the hotel, from the front desk to the team at breakfast. All made us feel very welcome and we were certainly exceptionally well taken care of. Oh, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention breakfast. Fantastic, fresh, healthy options, and can’t miss the classic brötchen.

Very clean, light and welcoming.. The only downside was that the lift didn't work which was fine for me but not good for others.

I love this hotel. We booked it for our family the first time in May 2014. Everybody was happy, especially the ones in the family suite. This time, we could enjoy one of the rooms by ourselves - the hotel rooms look nice, and the staff is very friendly. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet with lots of cereal and delicious coffee. There are also vegan and gluten-free options and... (whereas I enjoyed having real milk in my morning coffee). With your stay, you get a pass for using public transport for free. Getting around is really super easy because the tram station is located right in front of the hotel, and Freiburg is well-known for its public transportation. I only can recommend the Green City Hotel Vauban!

This was a pleasant surprise. Great service and the location is convenient to get on the tram or the bus across the street. The room service is efficient and they take the going green very seriously. The breakfast buffet is enough to last you all day. The spacing and the color scheme lifts the overall experience of the hotel. The staff are attentive and present.

Excellent location if working at the Federal archives. Tram stop outside of door, so old town also convenient. Bakery also outside door, with another 2 blocks away. And hotel stay includes card for public transportation. What's not to like? Very much enjoyed working stay at Green City Hotel.

Nice hotel with good spaces. Very interesting philosophy in terms of environmental impact. Breakfast was ok. Car park may be challenging in the first hour or two, since the car park is in the other side of the road and there is no temporary park in front of the hotel. Although the hotel is not central, the available train in front of the hotel directly into the city center and the free transport pass completely removes this issue.

Had a nice stay. The staff was always helpful, even helping me change rooms in the middle of the night (long story but nothing to do with the hotel) and helping me find items I had left behind. The rooms were very functional, straight lines, lots of wood, and despite being over 31C outside it was well tempered inside ("passively" climatized building). Did not take advantage of breakfast, and no coffee in room. Bakery right outside, grocery store, pharmacy and bank across the street, lots of students and then there is Freiburg, clearly the best German city. Overall a very good value.
