I LOVED this cute place to dine while walking about the older part of Frankfurt. My husband and I just stumbled upon it around lunchtime, and we were hoping for local cuisine, so this seemed like a decent choice. It was a beautiful day, so we THOUGHT we'd eat outside at one of their tables, but upon entering the restaurant, we were enchanted! I had to get a table in that place! And we didn't have to wait! I could hardly blink for fear of missing something cute hanging from the ceiling or on the wall. Rich woods, lots of signs with quotes written on them in German, artwork EVERYWHERE, painted glass... all were a feast for the eyes!
And what a menu! We both decided on the Sweineschitzel and a couple beers. It was all perfect! We sat at a large table against a wall so we could take in everything around us. The other diners seemed like locals, except for two couples who walked in after us. The host (maybe he owned the place) was cheerful and lovely. I hadn't noticed a sign that they only took cash! A minor inconvenience, as there were other ATMs nearby (note that many of these are actually located inside stores/restaurants and not out on the street).
We were so thrilled with our choice and I'd take others there on a future Frankfurt layover!

Bring some cash ~
The waiter was super helpful. And suggested a traditional style local beer (Kulmbacker) and the food was amazing.

I know many give a lower rating due to the fact they accept cash only. But it adds to the traditional style. Remember to bring cash and come enjoy the food and drinks

Small but cozy and nice traditional german decoration restaurant in the tourist spot. Foods were good with English menu to choose. But they only accept cash.

Great late-medieval style restaurant in exactly the right place at the centre of town. Enjoy the interior as much as the meat oriented specialties here, for a fair price.

A lovely place! Ordered Schnitzel and apple strudel along with a glass of Kulmbacher. Enjoyed them all.

The waitress who served me was super friendly and enthusiastic. She also spoke English to me which made it easy for me to communicate as a foreign tourist. Fantastic service! Will return for more someday!

We spent some time at Frankfurt and this restaurant came into our way so we did try it. Waitress was really kind, also helped us with choice and recommended us some better food combinations than the ones we had in mind. Food was delicious and it did reflect the price. 4€+ for beer was bit too much for Czech guys, but with the awesome food we had, it just doesn't seem that bad. Overall atmosphere was really great and since restaurant is situated almost in the middle of the Römer, the view on the surroundings increases overall experience. We can only recommend this restaurant.
