Best Airport in Germany, Major International flights fly from here. Very good architecture, superb facilities. Very big airport.

The immigration borders control only has 2 officers and all of the other booths are closed. Long queue and be there earlier if you don't want to be hated and needed to cut queue to catch your flight. Just be there at least 1-2hours earlier before your boarding time after your check-in.

Big airport and very busy! If you have a morning flight, please come early. Bottlenecks were the security checks and immigration as staff clock in at 8am so very limited counters before that. As for food and drinks, generous with seatings and places to wait but there's a queue as only one cafe per wing (in my case B). Well connected to trains so staying a few stops away is an option.

Travelers, beware of customs, they are very picky and you must take your luggage inside south at customs. I've been traveling from Chile, I went through Chilean customs, USA customs twice (lots of stops for a low cost airplane ticket) and here is the first time I have to almost tear apart my luggage to show them there is now fowl play.
A small back pack with lots of electronics took more than half an hour to check.
Don't be fooled, they always treat me with courtesy and good manners. Everything else is standard for an airport this big. They charge you a lot for a water bottle once you go through customs... The ugly thing about this is that they don't allow to bring in more than 100ml of water...

I transit via Frankfurt all the time. Great airport. Love the star alliance gold lounges here. My favorite airport in the entire Europe.

I tend to think many people are unfair in assessing this airport. It is very large. All travelers know this. Longer layovers are prudent here. And, there are plenty of very good shops and restaurants to make a layover enjoyable. I got some very good pricing, very, very good on Business Class seats from Austin to Toulouse. The only concern was too short a layover on the return leg from Toulouse to Frankfurt. 50 minutes. So, I signed up for the Frankfurt Airport Gate to Gate Service. It was €85,00, total for my wife and me. I believe up to four (4) can avail themselves of this for the same price. We actually landed at a real gate. The attendant met us as we deplaned. We went down a stairwell next to the gate, onto the tarmac and into a car which took us from 1A to 1Z. We got out of the car and walked up to the Immigration Control, and were expedited through. We then got into a golf cart and sped through, stopping briefly at the US-bound documents check, the onwards to the departure gate. About 25 minutes. We boarded with about 10 minutes to spare. All far cheaper than a couple of nights in Frankfurt due to a missed flight. Earlier, inbound, we had a layover of 1.5 hours and had a very pleasant time in the Lufthansa lounge. A good experience, both ways.

Terminal 1 main Lufthansa terminal. Security (CSec) is ok when not many people otherwise prepare for command and control. Many good seating areas, Food is ok. Most duty free dont open till 7.30am.
