Let’s start with the staff. They are really nice. Except for the cleaning lady outside our room who decided to vacuum the room next to us and the hallway in front of our room around 7:30 on a Saturday morning. I know, it’s not her fault, but the one who made her working schedule. Especially for a hotel where the friendly sir behind the front desk asked if the purpose of our stay was leisure or business you might expect a bit more.
The hotel is like a well-designed maze with rooms in every corner. Some might say it’s the charm of the hotel. The communal areas have IKEA (like) furniture and are spacious.
Our lovely room for 3 was on the 2nd floor: take the elevator, exit the elevator, go to the left, first hallway to the right, mind your step, cross the garden, mind your step again, at the end to the left, follow the porch, at the end around the tiny corner. The maze experience was complete! The beds are ok, pillows cannot be categorised as pillows and it’s noisy. The first morning we woke up early from the cleaner, the second and third morning we were awake around 7 because of our very noisy neighbours (with kids).
Besides the dusty hairdryer, a little bit of calcification in the sink, a bit more calcification on the rain shower, the lack of real curtains and coat hangers and not enough space for clothes of 3 people the room was really nice and the images on the website are correct.
The hotel has a parking garage. That’s really nice. Although parking here is only for those with above average driving skills it’s big enough for most German cars.
Breakfast is simple. Very simple. It’s bread, cheeses, meats and eggs. Oh, and yoghurt and fruit. Nothing to complain about, nothing to be really looking forward to either. Just have it. The coffee comes from a machine, but is nice.
The location is nice. Despite the fact it’s next to a busy road and close to the railway it’s also close to public transport. And Altstadt is only a really nice 25 minute waterside walk away.
I would recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a not too expensive hotel in Frankfurt, but please don’t expect a 4 star experience. Maybe 3 stars would fit the experience better.
