Read a lot of great reviews about this bar. It has been around for more than 50 years. Seems like it’s an opened space for musicians, debaters, political discussion etc. However, when we were there there was no special event so it was quiet. My suggestion is to check of there is any event in advance if you want to get some spirit of the place.

I had an amazing evening at Voltaire. The atmosphere is quite unique. I would say that Voltaire goes beyond what a usual pub can offer. I liked, especially, the good vibe that arises from not only the crew but also the lights, music and people that I encountered during my visit. Moises, the dude at the bar, was always paying attention when me or my friends wanted to order something more, which isn’t common to see in a regular pub nowadays. It is for sure worth stopping by this place, either alone or with friends. I would recommend the “chili con carne”. it was very tasty and also a good portion. Beer and food prices are good.

Club Voltaire: a unique and irreplaceable bar and restaurant which simultaneously functions as a cultural center, offering performances, films, lectures, discussions, planning sessions, and exhibitions. I make sure to visit it every time I'm in town. Because it aims at critically enriching Frankfurt, it stands out in its neighborhood, where making money or looking pretty are usually the only reasons for an establishment to exist. It has been around for over 50 years; let's hope that it lasts for many more.

Wonderful place. Cozy, good service. Just try to avoid the days of old fashion political debates that lead nowhere and youll be OK.

One of the best alternative bars in Frankfurt.
Good atmosphere, special events, super nice and good team, fair price.

Secret recommendation! Amazing underground restaurant with great food and very nice people working there. A reason to come back to Frankfurt!
