I would give zero stars if I could! No organization whatsoever, it was complete anarchy. We were supposed to fly out and waited hours in a line that never moved. We ended up leaving and flying out of Amsterdam. If you need to depart from this airport, good luck, you're going to need it.

Poorly organized: Post-Covid travel chaos. Departure queues for evening checkin (no priority for business class given) and chaotic situating at late evening arrival on Saturday, packed area at baggage claim as NO bags have been delivered. First announcement after 15 minutes that delay occurs due to staffing shortage. Another announcement every 15 minutes, same content. Waited for 3.5hours after the plane touched ground and got the bags at 2am - most had left empty handed to return next day. Disappointing ...
Updated to add pictures how it looks a week later, similar instance, bags piling up everywhere and available to everybody passing by from any flight ...

A smaller airport (in relation to Frankfurt and Berlin), simple, clear and easy operating your path from check in, going through security and boarding. Nothing special, nowadays traditional walking through shopping stores finding your gate. Early in the morning, early flights, expect very long lines for coffee, water, anything. For a 6 am flight the gate area after security were packed.

On June 19 2022 I flew from DUS to Turkey end of noon. Was afraid for chaos due to many given comments, but everything worked out fine due to a normal amount of passengers. Only 20min waiting to check in luggage, a hardly populated Gate C security was max 15min. Friendly staff with a smile so 5 stars for the experience. So: there is still a possibility to go on your journey in a relaxed way in these times but no one can predict how crowded it will be.
Returnflight on 30th of june early morning and had to wait 30min for luggage. Bit longer than normal but not problematic at all.
Cheers!

Worst airport ever. Make sure to be 5 hrs in advance prior your flight.
Baggage check in queue: 2 hours
Security control queue: 1 hour
Only 1 opened Restaurant at the gate, queue: 1 hour
Toilets: a complete cleaning disaster, you’ll barely hold your vomit from the odors
In general hygiene and cleaning problems all over this third world airport

Well connected airport, with its own train station. Also you can easily travel between terminals using SkyTrain.

If you have a flight with departure from this airport, be there EARLY. Arriving 2 hours before my flight at the airport made me almost lose it, because of the long security check queue. Stayed in the line for more than one and a half hour. At Terminal C there were only two lanes for security, which is unacceptable.

From the outside, the Düsseldorf Airport doesn’t look like much but inside it is more than you’d expect. The airport is clean, well maintained and looks like a modern airport you’d find in the United States. There are many shops for you to get snack, drink or whatnot before going to your gate.

The ticket counters are well organized but it can be hard to read the signs for the airline. When it comes to the security checkpoint, that’s where the airport struggles because it flowed well people were skipping in line especially Checkpoint B. This caused a few arguments among other travelers because everyone is trying to get through security.

Once you do get through security, it’s easy to get to your gate but I noticed that if you’re going to the C concourse, be prepared to have your passport ready. There are many shops including duty free and some designer shops lining the corridors of the airport. Also you have many choices of restaurants as well. Overall, I enjoyed the Düsseldorf Airport.
