We were looking for a nice place to have breakfast in the city, but were surprised that hardly any restaurants popped up in Tripadvisor. (might be due to the time of the year, start of April)
Cafe Madrid was one of the few restaurants that were actually open that morning, and we decided to go in to see if they served anything that resembled breakfast. The owner assured us they did, and immediately helped us to a cozy table.
The inside of the restaurant looks like a classic German pub (lots of wood and copper elements on the bar) with some Spanish influences. Nice!
We were surprised (and happy) to learn that the restaurant offered a LOT of breakfast options. Sandwiches, croissants, egg-dishes, churros with chocolate sauce, etc.
I decided to order the GroBe fruhstuck (big breakfast) with a cappucino and wasn't disappointed! I got a variety of breads, cheeses, meat, sweets and roasted peppers. Exactly what I needed to start and survive a cold and rainy day.
It was simple but delicious, especially the parmezan cheese and chorizo. The coffee was good too!
I can definitely recommend this place. u003d)
