At first glance one would think it’s a Mosque but why it looks so different and the location is really a top. In fact it’s not a mosque ???? Yenidze is a former cigarette factory building in Dresden, Saxony, Germany built between 1907 and 1909. Today it is used as an office building. It is notable for its Orientalizing exterior design which borrows design elements from mosques.

I went here for the first time to meet up with my boss. We had a beer on the rooftop beer garden and then a coffee and cake under the dome.

It's and old cigar factory that was built inspired in a Mosque and today is space for some companies, a restaurant under the dome and a terrace biergarten. Its free to walk around and the biergarten has fair prices, great to have a good view of the city while drinking a beer or a coffee. During pleasant days its also possible to watch the ballons departing nearby.

Even if it is only a former cigarette factory, the Yenidze is among Dresden’s most famous attractions for its distinctive architecture.
Since, according to the law, it was strictly prohibited that buildings might spoil the city’s baroque skyline, it was built in the style of a colorful mosque (with a chimney disguised as a minaret and a stained-glass dome too) and, consequently, it stands out clearly from the other buildings in town.

This place is stunning, especially when you know that this is a taobacco factory. And it's actually pretty new. I really like this one. It's shame that we only saw it from outside.
