One of quite a few remaining towers from the Middle Ages

The forts and gates around Cologne are worth a look. There are 4 gates remaining from the old walls. You aren't able to enter most though. Still great is you love historical constructions.

The Ulrepforte was built in the early 13th century as part of the medieval city wall of Cologne. It is mentioned in documents in 1245 for the first time. The Ulrepforte is preserved with strong structural changes. The Sachsenring road passes by as part of the Kölner Ring. With four meters width, the Ulrepforte was the smallest of the country-side city gates. Since no field road joined the field, the gate is likely to have had no importance for traffic.
