I loved this museum. I was with a friend from overseas and we didn't book any tour but I will return with a booked tour that much I enjoyed it. The sewage tunnel is nothing for the faint heart. Claustrophobic situation but still amazing. The rich history in form of buildings is simply breathtaking.

Must see place in all of Cologne. Here stood the house of the Roman governor. And for a ~ €3 entry fee this visit is a steal. If you enjoy any amount of history, go here; it's not every day you get to walk through the first few centuries of AD. Could even walk down and through the ancient sewage system.

Loved visiting this site! It’s quite cheap (€4,5pp) and you can spend about 1-1,5hours there. There’s a small museum with some models etc, you can visit the Roman sewer system and an underground ruin.
One downside: most of the info is in German, there’s only very little info in English.
Not accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. There’s a restroom and coatcheck available.

My 2nd favourite historical site in Cologne. Easy to overlook, but a shame to miss.

You go under the city to see historical Roman city hall/ Palace remains. It doesn't take too long to do, but is well worth any detour.

They found the ruins during rebuilding after WWII, and decided to protect it by building an underground cement cover of some sort.

Can't believe I walked by for years without realizing what enchanting history was waiting behind that a assuming entrance.

Perfect program for a rainy/cold day or if you are interested in the Roman history.
Pretty impressive to see how Cologne used to look like back then.
The entrance fee is really low and the exhibition really interesting.

WOW! The staff here dont speak much or any English but the main chap, an older gentleman, did an amazing and brilliantly animated job of hand gesturing how to best experience the exhibits. If this place was in the UK all the items would be at least 6 feet behind a rope and glass but you could actually touch some of the old statues and finds in this place, there wasn't a sign in English to say I couldn't so assumed it was ok to do so?! There wasn't much English translated signage for the exhibits, what was there was addequate, what wasn't there was easily translated by google apps. Superb examples of Roman finds and architecture. Hope to revisit!
