Beautiful building in a brutal, minimalistic fashion, reminiscent of Japanese architecture. An inner court carefully supplied and tended in this elegant style is always within sight when walking through the exhibition.
Why four stars: even though it is a nice sight to visit and the price is accommodating, I felt a bit bored halfway through. Musea of this sort are slowly being elevated into an experience more than just an exhibition.
A broad selection of pieces of all eras doesn’t suffice anymore, as there is so much more to tell and show, other than simple plaques on the wall.
Still, a 4 star is deserved, as it is a very nice collection, spanning centuries of East Asian art and culture. I just think it could work more inspiring with a freshening up of museum-experience.
