I have seen this locale plenty of times since I live nearby but never had the opportunity to come visit it. Well, now that I did I am pleased to say it's one of my favorite places I have been to. The menu and food is decent and fairly priced. I had a Rumpsteak with mashed potatoes and a spicy sauce. It was all very well prepared and nicely presented on the plate. Absolute praise to the kitchen crew for the food and for letting me order food even though the kitchen was supposed to be closed (I did tip fairly well so I hope my brethren of the blade did get their share of the tip).

The locale is nicely decorated in true medieval fashion-wooden tables, candles, shields and swords hung up as ornaments and when I was there I had the pleasure of being taught some history too about the meaning of "crossing blades", or in other words, a duel which used to take in taverns like this one, but with no actual bloodshed, just public humiliation. I was tempted to give it a go, but I guess my stage fright took over (perhaps next time). To keep the feeling of being in a medieval tavern, the wenches (waitresses) and inkeeper (I guess?) all spoke in an old accent, which I found a very nice touch, albeit me not being as well versed kinda ruined the atmosphere. The music that plays in the tavern is likewise inspired on folk songs so expect to hear a lot that too. It does blend very well to the locale and just elevates it a bit further.

Apart from the atmosphere there are some specific and old school drinks to be had like Mead, Apple wine and others. That is the only downside I can think of as the drinks were quite expensive, but then again I can understand it. It's a business after all and they have to earn their bread in some way so I cannot scold them on it. Besides, I don't think there is another place where one can order Mead, so exclusivity has a price too.

All in all, a lovely experience and a place worth visiting if you are into medieval lore/atmosphere or love high fantasy like I do as well as history. Can't wait to visit it again.

Amazing restaurant, never seen something like this before. They teletransport you to the medieval age and they also dress and talk like it. The food has no words! The burgers are amazing and fit to the price. Also the honey wine or cherry are so tasty! I couldn't recommend it more. You should reserve a table in advance because it is small and always full!

We feasted there on NYE and had very high hopes. Good concept but it could've been much better executed. The music was awful and didn't fit one bit. It was more like party music. Also little things could've been done way better, e.g. the cutlery or the plates that were made from black glossy porcelain, not very medieval. Also the staff wasn't that attentive and we had to wait a lot for new drinks.
The food was good though. All in all 3 stars. Will try it again in a couple of months.

Great design and atmosphere, all the details thought through - from menu names and descriptions to staff outfits and the way you are served. There are actually 2 floors: ground and basement. In the basement, you can play adjusted version of billiard. Burgers were solid (not fantastic), but great experience overall!

From the moment you enter the resturant you are transported to a different time. The resturant is beautifully setup and the atmosphere is great, the waiters are very friendly and fully into their medieval roles.

The food was also really amazing, I had the Metal Burger and my wife had the Huftsteak. I am definitly going back for the burger, my wife was a but dissapointed by the steak but she will try the burger next time.

Cant wait to visit again!

A very nice restaurant. Nice decoration and friendly interesting staffs who dress in special customs and talk specially as characters in the film. The food were tasty. The garlic bread, black burger and fries were all delicious. I like this restaurant a lot. Highly recommend????????

Happened upon this, really friendly, Medieval British, themed restaurant, as it was near our hotel. On a Sunday night, we didn't need a reservation.
My German didn't stretch to Medieval British food puns, (hard to believe, I know ????), but the staff guided us, to a veritable banquet. The steaks were cooked to our taste, while the sides and drinks (some complimentary) flowed.
Great staff, value, atmosphere and quality.
