I wasn't expecting much, even somewhat dreading staying in a tacky. cheap place (photos on the website are not especially inviting) but the reality was exactly what I like. This is a simple hotel but it provided what I wanted for the stay before my flight. Checking-in was fast and easy and my room only a few meters away on the ground floor. It was pleasantly cool - working A/C - a terrific relief in this heatwave. (I had just spent 12 hours being baked in regional u003d slow trains. The room was like student accommodation; all the things you really need, no frippery; I felt that my money was spent on what I need not on irrelevancies.
I needed something to eat and that was easy to get; there is a 'Tankstelle' (gas station) 100 meters away. It has a wide range of food and drink and is open all hours.
The only thing I would like to see improved is the directions from the S-Bahn station (Frankfurter Strasse); instead of telling me to 'head north', which compass orientation I could only guess at (and got wrong, initially), it would have been better to say 'we are next to the KFC and gas-station sign' - which was easy to spot - and unambiguous.
This hotel was recently renovated, I hope they manage to keep it at the present standard. If so, I am sure I'll be returning.

Due to train delays arrived after 10pm so had the usual minor hassles extracting the key code and getting access my room but all worked fine and the room itself was one of the best quality of Ibis Budget standard I have stayed at. Lost all those brownie points by the Hotel unbelievably not having a luggage storage room, at an airport Hotel... I deliberately chose this Hotel close to the Airport the night before my late flight the next day to give myself a luggage free day in Koln... If it hadn't been for the full blown Ibis Hotel opposite coming to my rescue [as I am fortunately an Accor All Member] I would have had to kart my suitcase around all day... NOT GOOD.

Budget indeed. I knew what I bought.
Some things were not up to standard, even for a budget hotel.
It could have been cleaner. Some weird spot in the toilet.
Secondly, the air was a bit stale. Opened a window.
When I closed it to go to sleep, noticed the stale tabacco smell, that will never go away. Ieeeeeuuuuuww.
Told the receptionist the next morning. She shrugged it off. She could not help people smoking in the room, even it if it was forbidden.
Gross and not a professional attitude.

The woman who runs this place has only one goal... "to drive her business into the grave..." There's nothing wrong with this hotel... but the owner/manager must be avoided at any cost.

Room clean but the size of the room with the bathroom which is in my opinion a mistake is ok for a quick night ok for a longer trip I do not recommend

Very friendly staff who were very patient with me despite a language barrier, Great breakfast compared to the deep-fried garbage I normally get in the UK, and perfectly just outside the LEZ because I didn't have a green sticker for my car to be able to drive into town.

Rooms kinda small and not very good smell inside. Otherwise inline with the expectations, fast access from the motorway, at the outskirts of Koeln City.
