Terrible hostel. The cleaners moved my luggage out of my room. Got a shock at the end of a long day to find my suitcase was missing. Had to look for it at reception. There were a lot of unexpected charges and almost no facilities. I will never stay here again. It was very close to the cathedral and the security guy was lovely. The room was huge but my bed collapsed 3 times and the windows are thin so you here everything from the street. It’s loud and busy and the church bells are very alarming.

Location: perfect. Close to train station and in the city centre.
Staff: outstanding.
Accommodation: clean, good.
Beds: could be better.
Showers: clean, good.
Toilet: clean, good.
Booking price: good.
Extra price: bed fee €3,00 and key deposit €20,00 (cash) This was a surprise.

No lockers, no safe:
It is possible to storage luggage/suitcase at the reception desk.

I can recommend this place????????

Beware that you can check in until 10 pm, and beware that you have to pay 3 euros for bed linnets. However, I called and informed them that I would arrive in the middle of the night, and this was accepted (they have a skeptical security guard who can do the check-in if you call them and say you'll come in late).
It's a huge hostel, and I stayed in a room with a nice view of the cathedral.
As you can see in my photos many things in the hostel is defect, and there are no lockers in the rooms.
Overall an okay experience.

This is the first review I've ever left, I felt compelled to do so as the hostel was so bad.
I understand that you shouldn't expect luxury when booking a hostel however you should expect the basics to a good standard.
There was one working toilet on my floor and one working shower. The shower was cold and had no pressure. Both of these had not been cleaned properly even the next day after housekeeping had been round they were still dirty.
I am a soldier and are used to "roughing it" but it comes to something when your temporary Army accommodation is better than a hostel you have paid for so you decide to cut your stay short by a night and return there. Genuinely wish I had read the reviews on here before I booked. There are far better hostels in cologne don't waste your money with this place.

1. Reception works as if it is 1998 outside: everything on paper, no order in the filing system. It took them 20min (sic!) to get me my 20€ deposit back. And they *didn't even find my file*.
So plan at least 30min for the whole check out routine.
2. The 2nd floor shower was clogged, there is no even a simple rug. I've read it much on the reviews. Seems like the administration doesn't bother with a frequent cleaning of the whole facility.
3. They don't really bother to show you the room either. The guy gave me a key, walked at least 50 meters around the block, showed me the stairs (from downstairs) and that's it. Had to find the way (and the bed) by my own.
4. 2 stars for a location. Central station is in about 5min walking.

I have stayed in weird and dodgy places in the past, but this one surpasses all of them...
The only average thing is the location, close to Cologne's main sites. Unfortunately, all the windows have a single pane of glass and this is an area where people hang around late in the night... That means a lot of background noise...
The reception is not in the same building where the rooms are located, the corridors, restrooms and washrooms look dirty and unhealthy. The lift seems that it is going to stop working any minute and the rooms are the most non interesting and lacking any kind of design I have ever seen!!!
Would not ever stay there again and couldn't possibly recommend this place to anyone I know...

Capable staff, fantastic location right in the middle of town. Beds are ok, rooms are clean. The hostel is not connected to the check-in building; it's actually just across a nearby street and on a different floor of an office building.

However the toilet and shower facilities are severely lacking; there's only one shower/toilet, and one separate toilet, so during busy times they're nearly always occupied. If you just need a place to crash for the night, the price and location make this hostel a place to consider anyway.
