Eau de Cologne is one of, if not THE most underrated restaurant in the Cologne metropolitan region. For all those expecting just another swimming pool snack bar, be aware … what you’re offered here can well be considered as haute cuisine – apart from the prices that are very reasonable at most, and many dishes are veritable bargains given the quality offered.

The cuisine is versatile, ranging from traditional hearty “kölsch” to Italian as well as Fine French.

Despite being located near an expressway, the location is calm and cosy. The waiters are always very attentive and friendly.

My family has dined at this place for more than ten years, and the quality has always been consistently high, even with varying chefs, and the value for money is just incredible. The Argentinean rump steak in the photo with homemade herb and garlic butter and relish was for about €18,-.

Wenn Speisen zu einem gewissen Preis rausgegeben werden muss dann auch das Ergebnis auf dem Teller stimmen im Sinne von das Auge ist mit.

Bin früher regelmäßig in das Restaurant gegangen, bis das Essen auf einmal immer schlechter wurde. Nach vielen Jahren habe ich heute einen Neuanfang gewagt. Der Einstieg war stümperhaft. Die Bedienung hat mir eine schmutzige Gabel hingelegt. Das trübt dem Gast dann schon mal die Freude auf das Essen. Als ich das reklamiert habe, kommt nicht ein einziges Wort des Bedauerns. Das finde ich unprofessionell.

Es war keine Kleinigkeit, die Gabel war so schmutzig, dass man das nicht übersehen kann.

Das Restaurant war im Innenbereich bis auf einen Tisch leer. Auf zwei Stühlen müsste wir erst die Sitzpolster abschütteln, weil diese scheinbar nicht kontrolliert werden, wenn der vorherige Gast aufgestanden ist.

So hatte ich mir den Neuanfang nicht vorgestellt. Das Essen hat aber die Stimmung wieder verbessert.

Das Essen: "Lammrücken, Burger, Spaghettini mit Lachs mit Getränken und einer Portion Apfelstrudel war mit 70 Euro nicht zu teuer. Die Qualität stimmt.

Allerdings läuft das Personal hier mit Scheuklappen am Tisch vorbei. Da muss man schon deutlich auf sich aufmerksam machen.

Wir haben es mal wieder gewagt: an einem Sonntag im Eau de Cologne essen zu gehen ! Erstmal nie wieder, es war eine Katastrophe! Die Getränke wurden nicht serviert, standen aber sehr lange sichtbar am Tresen ! Mein Flammkuchen fast kalt und ohne Creme fraiche ! Die Gnocchi sollten mit Grillgemüse sein , aber man suchte es vergeblich! Es war eine große Enttäuschung! Mein Mann war richtig sauer! Wir haben uns auch beschwert, aber der richtige Ansprechpartner war leider nicht vorhanden ! Noch anzumerken: Wir hatten bereits in der Woche schon des öfteren etwas mehr Glück gehabt! Es ist wirklich eine Schande für dieses nette Restaurant !

Die Hauptspeise war eine andere als auf der Karte angekündigt statt Fisch, weshalb ich eigentlich das Restaurant aufgesucht hatte, gab es Rindfleisch mit Pasta und Gemüse. Auf mein Nachfragen wurde mir gesagt, dass die aushängende Karte vom Vortag wäre und man sie noch nicht gewechselt hätte. Das Rindfleisch schmeckte nach Leber, die Nudeln waren Teilweise kalt und der Ruccolasalat vergammelt. Meine Reklamation wurde zur Kenntnis genommen und ansonsten ignoriert. Noch nicht einmal eine Kugel Mövenpickeis aus der Dose war in Ordnung das Eis war angelaufen und mit Eiskristallen durchsetzt. Den Verzehr hatte ich bald bereut. Es ist eine Schande ein Lokal an diesem schönen Ort derart schlecht zu führen.
