Cologne Bonn Airport

It’s a small airport but very nice and easy to access. Very close to Cologne, with S trains in just 15 minutes. There are two terminals here, with a nice lounge in T1. Unfortunately, due to COVID, the lounge from T2 is close now. Many flights are departing from terminal 1. The airport looks spacious, many seats to relax. Some of the stores are closed, but you’ll find a bar to drink a coffee or grab a snack. Overall its a nice airport. Be aware, at the passport control there are sometimes big queues. Wifi is kind of slow.

I have visited this airport multiple times. Last time, I was here at end of June. Due to an increase in number of travellers, it was very crowded. We reached the airport early expected the security check to take hours since it was a Saturday morning. But it surprisingly took less than 15mins. They were checking new security check gate which allowed us to leave our electronic devices and liquids in the bags. It was very quick and the personnel were polite. When we reached the gate, it was extremely crowded with no places to sit. There are limited number of seats near the gates. It will get overwhelming if the flight gets delayed and you have to wait for hours but no place to sit. Overall, it’s okay for short distance flights.

Awful airport! One of the worst experiences, some third worlds airport look nicer and are more efficient.

Eurowings flight (no further comment) from London landing at what I believe was Terminal 1, a deserted building without many people to ask info from. Signage very poor.

Connecting flight to Zurich departing from Terminal 2. Have to go through passport control, only one person for EU passports and a massive queue at 6pm on a Sunday.

I had to exit the airport and re-enter from Terminal 2 passing security a second time. Incredible time waster!

Walking distance from A to B was incredibly long and painful. If the Euro wings flight was not delayed (not a surprise) I wouldn't have made it on time.

Ironic - machines everywhere asking for your feedback on the airport experience.
Bonus info - unfortunately I didn't take many pics but I attach a photo of a couple of empty pints on the floor of terminal 2.

It's an ok airport. Didn't have any major issues but the queue to the security check is insanely long. The airport's twitter page constantly updates about the waiting time but it's advisable to come the airport about 4 hours earlier to make sure you don't miss your flight.

Cologne Airport consists of 2 Terminals. The Gates are divided into A, B, C and D.

I have no complaints about this airport. Usually it does not take too long to get through security, but of course that's not always the same.

Accidentally left the security area and got myself into the arrival area, but it was no problem for me to go through security again. The staff was friendly.

Furthermore there is a little bit of entertainment to be found as well once you have arrived at Gate B. A Xbox one is freely accessible to travellers which is nice.

It is also possible to charge your phone since there are charging spots :)

The security check is just too stressful. I arrived 3 hours before my flight and most of my time end up by lining up at security point. As photo attached it said 50-60 mins but actually is longer than that.

Apart of that is small, convenient by train, enough food and drinks.

Unfortunately the custom officer are arrogant like most airports. Had a return flight early morning with almost everything closed and the coffee shop that where open had mile long queues. Apart from that a good size airport with ample parking and clean.
