Delicious food, large serves, and most dishes are vegan. Seating outside is very popular, so plan to arrive for an earlier dinner if you don't want to wait.
Note they accept cash only.

Very tasty vegetarian Vietnamese food in a great setting. No reservations so expect a bit of a queue but it passed quickly. Cute courtyard for outside dining.

Highly recommended. Delicious food, great service. I had a daily special: noodles in a type of red curry with lots of toppings. It was a huge portion for €11.90.

I'm Vietnamese and I can say it is authentic here!
I haven't tried all their dishes, but at least for the ones that I did, I can say it's way more authentic than many other "Vietnamese" restaurants in Cologne.
I tried Bún xào sả ớt u0026 Kho tộ, which Bún xào sả ớt was extremely delicious ???? Kho tộ was kind of salty tho.
Their Đậu nành lá dứa (Soy milk with pandan) was sooooooo good, smells great too. I also had Táo quế (apple juice w cinnamon), it was a bit sweet, a bit sour, smells great too.
The decoration is simple but authentic, looks like small diners in the countryside in Vietnam. The restaurant is small and not too well ventilated, but the rest is amazing.
You should reserve a table if you don't want to stand in the queue forever. And you can only pay with cash.
I'm also impressed that the owner is such a young guy (looks like 30 something)!

Chum Chai is one of the most popular Thai restaurants in Cologne. They have a lot of delicious specialties with Nudel or rice. the food always tastes very good and the quality of the is always great. People usually have to wait until they get a seat, but this is just extra evidence of the popularity of the restaurant and that people like to eat there. The place is a dream for vegans and vegitarians, but the food tastes so good to everyone. In addition, the staff is very nice and professional. The kitchen can also only be rated with 5 stars. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and has a very pleasant and warm atmosphere. Just great

Very authentic Vietnamese Chay restaurant!
I love me a banana flower salad, and they have a really good one here.
They don't take reservations, so you just have to show up. It gets busy in the evenings, so you could stand in a queue for 30 minutes or more.
Locals said this is the best vegan/vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant in town.

Super delicious dishes at Chum Chay! Friendly u0026 fast service. Worth the waiting at the beginning since you cannot make a reservation.
