It's a few minutes walk to the cathedral which is great. It is basically in the middle of a shopping plaza which is not so great. The quality of the rooms is probably fine for a solo traveller without high expectations. For anyone with a family the noise from the shopping plaza continued until the church bells started going off at 6am and in the summer it was too hot to close the windows.

The owner (from what I could understand) was at the reception when I arrived and did my check-in. Was extremely rude and I got the feeling the was very upset that I chose to stay at the hotel. Was neither kind, nor helpful nor welcoming. Responded angrily when I asked for the possibility of having a late check-out.
The rooms are basic and compact, the restroom is tiny and check-out is very early.

We had a room next to the breakfast room. Beween 23:00 and 24:00 the staff was preparing breakfast what made a lot of noise. After these preparations they had a drink together what produced even more noise. This took forever until I made clear I could not sleep because of them. There was no air conditioning and the heat made our night even worse. After this long and hot night the breakfast was rather poor with only one type of bread, a white roll. Do not book here.

Hotel was right near the Dome, it was very central to downtown and all the busy streets. it was good to be somewhere near places to eat and shop. the only reason i did not give this 5 stars is because the church constantly had bells going of. however that is not anything the hotel can do / change.

The staff was very friendly, they spoke English well and it was even the birthday of the guy who worked there. he gave us a small chocolate. The hotel was affordable and i messed up the booking (thought i had booked till sunday but turned out to only saturday) but they allowed me to book an additional night right there.

I'd recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Cologne.

Best location you could ask for; clean too! Really nice to drop things back at the hotel during the day while shopping. So easy. Would stay again.

Have stayed here every year for the past 10 years during the Christmas Market time and a few other times during summer visits. Staff/owner/family is VERY friendly and accommodating. Rooms are always clean, area is always safe and the beds are very comfortable.

People that post about lack of air conditioning here don't understand European ways and that most local establishments don't have AC. As far as the noise level....during the markets yes there is street vendor noise. If you have a street facing room you will hear stuff until 2130hrs then it stops. You have to expect some noise during the early to mid evening times due to the location and what is around the area. But the location is amazing, shops galore and coffee places in the morning are amazing.

The breakfast here is quite adequate. If you are expecting a full service menu then you should stay elsewhere. Its sufficient with breads, meat, cheese, fruit, eggs and some pastries as well as coffee tea and juices.

Again place is great, staff is amazing and you cant go wrong staying here.
