We (2 couples) were there in a busy summer evening on Friday night, reserved a table inside beforehand, which was needed.
Upon arrival, the man who looked like the head staff (Asian older guy) seemed very stressful and clearly could not handle many requests properly at the same time. He made us wait for our table and even forgot us totally. Finally we got our table when we approached a female staff.
Drinks and appetizers arrived in a timely manner, considering the busy time. But.......we had to wait the full 2.5 hours for our main dishes. The staff informed us before in the evening that the food could arrive a bit later as the kitchen was very busy, but come on......2.5 hours waiting time is certainly unacceptable! We arrived at 20:15 and left around 23:00, as the latest customers.
The staff apologized politely though for this long delay.
The food was average Indonesian food. The curry tasted bland and far from spicy Indonesian curry with extensive spices, but the veggies were fresh.
The staff was polite and nice during our dinner. Though upon leaving (we were the latest customers there), nobody even looked at us. I don't know if they did this because they felt ashamed of their extraordinarily slow kitchen or if they were too busy closing the restaurant, but it didn't feel good and is not polite.
You can only pay with cash here. But they informed us about this correctly at the reservation.
I find that the prices of the dishes are too high for such an average quality.
Will we go back there? Certainly not, as long as they haven't improved their management. The food is also too average for the price. Not worth it, certainly if you have to spend the entire evening for your dinner! There are better Indonesian restaurant(s) in Cologne.
