Very atmospheric GDR style restaurant, the tables and plates feel very GDR style. They serve dishes from former DDR so it is a must try in East Berlin. The food was basic but very tasty and very well cooked. The service was good and they spoke english.

I HIGHLY recommend this to anybody interested in GDR history. The restaurant had beautiful and tasteful decoration. This is NOT some cheesy tourist Soviet-esque tourist trap, but instead a well thought out and unique restaurant that makes you feel like you're really back in the GDR.

The food was also very reasonably priced and quite big! The dishes were simple, tasty, and authentic to what popular cuisine was really like in East Germany.

Note that you should probably pay with cash, but the service is great! You even get a little complimentary chocolate snack at the end of your meal, something I've never seen any other restaurant do.

You should use Google translate to help figure out the menu, but overall this is genuinely a tasteful, well thought out, affordable, and authentic experience.

I would recommend this to anybody interested in the history of the GDR. You will not be disappointed.

I was looking forward to come here since long, we entered and asked for a table, the behavior of the waitress, after ignoring us for a few minutes, was rude at best but we thought it was part of the "show". In 30 minutes all we got is the menu and very bad attitude from the waitress, after that we just decided to leave because we felt the whole thing was unacceptable. I think this is the second time in my life I left a restaurant before ordering so yeah. Memorable.

This restaurant really brings you back to the soviet times. Genuine east German food. Staff was kind but extremely slow. We ordered the Russian soup and a goulash, they were both delicious. The sausage schnitzel was not my favourite, very heavy, but I think that has more to do with personal taste than the quality of food, so I kept it 4 stars.
