I visited this museum in the end of July 2012 and was met by the sadest looking man I have ever seen in a museum (and with all the museums I have been to now, that says a lot....) This museum has a good collection of instruments and hearing the instruments being played on the audio guide is cool, but no information about the making of the instruments is given in the audio guide or anywhere else in the museum. The little written information that is scattered around the museum is in German only. Many of the instruments are amazingly beautiful but they are presented in a very "sterile" way. I wished the museum had organized the collection in a way that made it possible to sit down and study the instruments while listening to the music. It could also been interesting to see the newer instruments "in action" in music videos, live performances or demonstrations.
But if you are interested in musical instruments it is worth a visit, just don`t try to order anything in the cafe after 16.00, then you will be told off by the lady there like I was....
