Spent from around 2.30pm-5.30pm on a Thursday, seeking treatment for a presumed broken toe.
I arrived at the main entrance first, and was then wheeled to the emergency room by a very nice staff member as the receptionist saw how much pain I was in from walking. Once in the emergency waiting hall, I got attended to pretty quickly to fill out insurance info and register. I speak some German, but almost each staff member was either fluent or semi fluent in English and I found that communication was very smooth and easy. This part was nice and pleasant.
The wait took very long until a doctor looked at my toe. It’s understandable to have to wait so long, especially in an emergency room with such a “minor” injury as mine. As I waited, multiple staff members asked if I was ok or needed anything. It did get a little irritating watching people walk in and leave again while I still waited, and I believe me having a European rather than German insurance does influence this, but I may be wrong. The wait wasn’t particularly comfortable or enjoyable in any way. Bring water, food, a book, or download some movies .There is free WiFi, that worked well and reached everywhere I needed it to.
I was attended to by doctor Frau. Heupel, and her along with every single staff member I spoke to here made this experience all in all very pleasant!! She was competent, clear, spoke perfect English, took a good amount of time examining and talking to me. I was incredibly happy ! She sent me to an X-ray and once that was done I was out the door in less than 45 minutes, all patched up and informed.
I may even dare say this is the friendliest and nicest staff I have ever encountered at a German hospital. Not just at the emergency, but really throughout the hospital.
