This hotel is clean and has no odor of cigarette smoke, except perhaps outside by the pool where people are allowed to smoke. They have friendly front desk staff and a cooler stocked with incidentals. The elevator was large for German elevators. They would compare to a small to medium US elevator. I give it only 3 stars for a couple of reasons. First, the room was HOT. We turned down the air to the lowest setting, and the fan to the highest, and it was still blistering hot. I went to the front desk and told them about it and the gentleman went to our room to check it out. He told my husband "yes, it is a little warm." We ended up opening up the window, which resulted in a bunch of mosquito bites. The coffee makers in the room will only work with the makers proprietary coffee/tea plastic units. I just wanted some hot water for my preferred teabags, nope. It absolutely will not make just hot water. I did ask for a hot water pot from the front desk and they delivered it to our room (thank you!). If you've got bad knee's you may want to look at their showers before you get a room. The shower system is in a "keyhole" shape, and a good 1.5 foot step up over the tub ledge to get in. The water pressure and temps were great (no cold shots from toilet-flushing's). Our room had a stocked refrigerator and common in-room safe. Now, to describe the bed. We had a queen size bed. It was firm, which was fine but there was no mattress pad at all. Just a mattress and a fitted sheet. Not what I call comfortable. The box spring was similar to a hide-a-bed. Every time one of us moved, or rolled, it was like riding a wave on the ocean. Overall, besides the uncontrollable heat wave, the room was satisfactory. Heads-up, there is an OUTDOOR, unheated pool only.
Lastly, I'd like to touch upon the restaurant. The food was fabulous! Really, every morsel of food from the restaurant was excellent. We had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly. I had the sea bass and I'll say it was the best I'd ever had. The service was 67% great. Our first server (lunch) was friendly and very professional. Our dinner server was a blond young lady. What's weird is that she was very friendly and courteous to my husband but she turned your body so she faced my husband the whole time and spoke to him only. I thought "what the heck?" I actually gave her my drink order to her back, she never looked at me at all. What the ???. I'm not sure if it was a cultural thing but I walk BESIDE my husband, not behind him. I expect the equal courtesy. Kinda made me angry, which the other server picked up on and took over our table. He was professional, courteous, and helpful with our questions. So, yes I definitely recommend the restaurant. It's likely the rudeness was just her age and inexperience. You will want to try the sorbet, it's heavenly.
