There are times when I wonder if a place like this is OK to run the way it does. Once that thought goes through my head I know the rating is going to decline. I was told right off the bat by the waiter that service would take some time. No problem. I agreed. The food was good, if this were any other, lesser, restaurant. The baked potato depended on the chives and sour cream for all the flavor, so not too much effort there. The steak was disappointing. Medium should be prepared evenly medium (as much as possible). I don’t mind medium-rare. I love it. I’m OK with medium-well, too. But when I ask for medium, I want it medium. Not ranging from medium-well to medium-rare. Also, the flavor of the steak did not permeate all the way through. I understand slow service. However, slow service should guarantee quality, not permit compromise.
That aside, the deal was well-rounded, the salad bar was great and the dessert with espresso (espresso separate) was fantastic. Still, this is a steak joint. Also, I was confused by the BBQ sauce (very sweet) as an option. I thought it was some kind of A1. That was my fault. I should have made sure, but why offer it with STEAK???
