The most inconvenient booking procedure I have ever experienced in my life! I booked a beautiful apartment for me and my family on booking.com. The booking was non refundable, which was ok for me at that point of time, big mistake. After the booking was confirmed the property started to call me asking me for legal registration confirmations of all guests, an ID was not enough. As a reason for that they mentioned they were afraid of bachelor parties as they’ve made bad experience in the past. So after accusing me of planning a party for no reason they wouldn't let me stay at the apartment that I had already paid unless I send them the extra documents they were asking for. I was not able to provide the legal documents for all guests including an 8 years old child. (We are talking about registration confirmation from the citizen office.) After five calls back and forward they started to cover their story up with COVID19 policies which apparently was written in small letters on booking.com. It turned out even booking.com customer service didn’t know about it…
After a lot of discussions with the booking assistant, I was suggested to simply request a cancellation via booking.com, (which was non refundable). So in the end I had the choice to either provide the documents or if I couldn’t do so to cancel the booking paying the cancellation fee or simply the nightly rate of 139€. After mentioning my lawyer I finally got the entering code by only sending the ID’s. It cost me one whole day and a US call to booking.com . I stayed in the place with my family for one night and regretted to ever have booked it.
I have never experienced a service like this. Don’t do that to yourself. There are many places in Berlin, which are nicer and customer friendly.
