Small grocery / wine shop converted to a restaurant.
We called them at the last minute to ask if they would have space for us, and they saved us a table.

Friendly service and good wholesome food. Portions are LARGE, the schnitzel seems to be the local favourite as pretty much everyone around had ordered it. We had Ox cheeks and wild boar which were quite good. The highlight was the dessert which was a pancake of sorts with a plum compote. Really, really tasty.

The waiter suggested a glass of wine which was perfectly matched. And the beer recommended was great as well.
Quirky atmosphere with a chair hanging from the roof!

Definitely worth a try if you are looking for a place for a nice relaxing meal.

Bad experience. I ordered one of the easiest German dish and came with burned parts also was really oily and wasn't delicious at all, I had it better in other places. The tap beer tastes really bad. The seats was shaking and not comfy at all even they had empty seats but they let me sit next to sewage sink that smells horrible.
The waitresses were so intensely and fakely smile, one of them didn't allow me to use the toilet unless I am a customer. Because she didn't know already I am a customer which is weird because she saw me on the table already. Asking for a 10% tip which is not decent at all. Really bad experience

GREAT place to eat German food without being an old-fashioned tavern style. The schnitzel was absolutely delicious, crunchy and soft inside. Käsespatzle are amazing. The prices are higher than usual, but absolutely worth it

Bad experience with this restaurant. The dish is expensive and doesn't taste good. The women pouring the wine pours bubble into the wine. She even says it is"German’s rule" to give 10% service charge while paying our bill. Won't go to this restaurant again

Much of the German food I've eaten in Berlin has been extremely average, so I was pleasantly surprised at just how good Lebensmittel is. It's a super Deutsch affair, brightly lit restaurant with lots of wood everywhere. No starters on the menu, no messing around. Portions are enormous, food is hearty and delicious, and make sure you try their Kaiserschmarrn (one is DEFINITELY enough between 2). Definitely check it out if you need your German food fix

Absolute gem in the heart of Mitte. German local cuisine at medium-to-high prices for extremely exquisite quality and service. Portions were abundant and food was gourmet-like. We were able to do a wine tasting session before actually ordering, which we really appreciated. Will come back! ⭐️
