Beware, your contract price can change. JR added 10€ to most of their contracts yesterday so the 'deal' I signed up for a few months ago went from 30€ to 40€ per month with only 14 days notice. Oh and if you go to the gym in this time you automatically agree to the contract change. They offer for you to cancel the contract - this is how they get around the legal aspect of it as my contract does not state that they can hike it up that much (33.3%).

The gym has some nice machines but its too busy always to do the work out you want. Even at off peak times its impossible to find work out equipment. The staff seem to spend more time flirting then cleaning up. They also monopolize machines and areas of the gym for circuit training which can be really frustrating as its already small and packed in there. The overall cleanliness of the gym is not good and the disinfection bottles are few and empty. The ventilation is also not great.

On top of this they do not offer water, most gyms have an area where you can refill cool or sparkling water but at John Reed you need to go to their toilet to refill. Really not worth the 40€ I will be cancelling and looking for a better option in the coming months.

It’s got everything for sure. Excellent music: with DJ! Have to say cleanliness would be nice if upheld more. Holding people accountable for use of machines: wiping down, putting things away and time usage. Customers sharing and cleaning up after themselves should really be upheld. Posting signs about proper etiquette would even be useful.

Overall mixed experience, following the positive and negative points.
Positive:
+ Nice furniture and gym equipment
+ Nice vibes with the music

Negative:
- Did not feel very welcome by the staff at the desk
- Needed to run around the area to find an ATM to get the 15 Euros for the trial training (which I have not encountered in gyms in Switzerland, the US nor the UK)
- The intro was: "everything is arranged in a circle, the dressing room is straight ahead" -u003e in all my previous gyms, they offered to show me around without me needing to ask for it
- Very crowded between 8pm - 9.30pm

I gave it a try with Probetage program.

Personal was there, active and kind.

Decoration was on point as well.

Bathroom really clean.

But I don't know why they don't put a bit more of an effort in ladies room. Smaller than others John Reed ladies room, it's equipped with one rack and only weights.

During the hour I spent there, a lady was using the rack and didn't pass it although she was chatting with a man for 15' at the open curtain that separate the room from the rest of the gym, and the man even came in the room at one point! So frustrating.

I didn't complaint at the desk cause I didn't want to deal with these people reaction as both seemed inconsiderate.

Females room are made also to help recovering trust and things like this are really triggering.

If you know this filial has a strong male presence, why don't take extra care of the small female public?

It's quite ok, as long as you try to come when it's not overcrowded (which it is most of the time). The staff is usually nice and friendly and the equipment is good and plenty.
As for the downsides: the only way to refill water is in the toilet after waiting in line for a single water tap shared by everyone. The easy fix would be installing refill stations, like all the other gyms do.
Now they've also removed the course timetable from their website (which was its only useful feature) in order to force people to download their poorly made mobile app, which is just a terrible marketing choice - they really need to adopt a more customer-oriented approach. Same goes for their forced price hike for old contracts a month or two ago - but this one, although sloppy, at least makes some financial sense.

Actually it was quite good. Calm not overcrowded. Maybe its because it was sunday night. Just 4 stars since it closes at 12pm. Open until 3- 4am should be normal for a big gym. I like the big and wide treatmill, very powerful machine. Still the best gym experience I had so far. But sadly no sauna.

Mixed feelings. The gym furniture is amazing, cool music concept and good equipment.
Unfortunately it's ALWAYS ALWAYS too crowded and due to this people behave in a rude way.
You come out even more stressed then when you come in. Sorry but bye bye!
