Check in: Their "system was down" when I arrived and consequently none of the approximate 30-40 people that were waiting to check in could get into their rooms. There was no backup or manual check in procedure, and the staff left no indication on when check in would be available. When asked, the reply was to come check back in 1-3 hours. They did offer to store luggage in the meantime, but it was still wild to see all these people just waiting around in the lobby to get into their rooms. I tried to requesting a refund or some sort of compensation (I missed a meeting at this point) and they couldn't assist. Once check in was available again they did offer a 15 euro voucher for drinks at their hotel restaurant. At least it was something.

I wasn't going to write a review because I figured it was maybe just an off day for the staff / hotel. However, a few hours after check in I was in my room showering when I heard my hotel room door open (the bathroom door was also open because I was the only one in my room) and two other hotel guests walked into my room and consequently got a full view of me taking a shower as well. Recognizing that the room was occupied they left and I finished my shower, only for about 10 minutes later a second, different couple also walked into my room. Meaning that the room I was in was open to three different parties now all who had access. Thankfully I was in the room both times - all of my belongings to include wallet, passport, business phone, computer, etc were out and easily could have been taken.

As I was getting dressed to go address the issue at the counter a member of the staff came up and asked my name and promised that they would correct it in their "system". I went downstairs and as I was walking by the same staff member asked for my name again and room number so that he could again, correct the issue. Not sure if the issue is systemic, due to an incompetent staff, or poor management, but overall my experience wasn't great.

On a positive note, the interior of the room was good, comfortable bed, appropriate temperature, good shower, and it was relatively quiet where I was. Location is 200-300 meters from Berlin Central Station.

Nice affordable hotel in a great location (Central Station).

The room was pretty modern, clean and spacious. The only negative is that it got quite loud at night. It was like there were people clubbing downstairs/outside as we could hear loud music and people talking pretty clearly

Also we had called room service for an ironing board u0026 iron, and a kettle two times and waited for an hour and a half and still no one came. We eventually had to go to the reception to ask again. They still didn't bring a kettle though even though they had told us they could provide one when we originally booked the room, so not sure if there was a language barrier when we actually asked for it or that they just didn't provide it even after multiple requests.

the hotel in itself is pretty. looking nice. good vibes. the rooms are not as small as some reviews said. not clean enough - the rooms floor was actually extremely dirty in a way that made me uncomfortable to walk around the room.
and you get exactly what the hotel describes - they will not accommodate a single tissue over what is promised. we came at 1am and there was not even water available.

Positive: Great place to stay next to the train station. Absolutely quiet on the inside of the room although it's one of the busiest areas of Berlin. We stayed here since we were flying out the next day. Train across the street gets you to airport in 30 min! Negative: Lobby is very compact and gets crowded at times. Nothing else really of note. Some free coffee in the AM would have been nice. I think that it was 8 Euro for two (small) cups of coffee a la carte.

Very beautiful and clean rooms equipped with all you need. The size is perfect. Personnel was very nice with one small exception. The position is perfect being in front of the main station. The price is very cheap for what you get.

I stumbled into this place, thoroughly jet-lagged, after screwing up a reservation at a nearby Menninger Hotel that, odds are, at a cost of around 60 euros I would have been unhappy in anyway. But the room at the Amano was expensive -- more than double that. Still, it was comfortable, stylish and roomy enough, and very close to the central station. Service was good and, supposedly, I was upgraded to a "comfort" room -- probably BS but the room was comfortable in any case. Apart from the high price, I'd stay here again if I couldn't find anyplace comparable nearby that was a bit cheaper.

Slept terrible! The bed was so hard I could just as easily have slept on the floor. The pillows were very thin! My back hurts after the stay and i came home more tired than before the trip!

Bedrooms were veeeeeery small!

The staff was however nice and the lobby looked nice.
