You need to have a ride on the suspension train in Wuppertal, otherwise you have not enjoyed the real thing the city has to offer. Take a lovely ride literally hanging over the city and let the sights go by. Beautifully designed stations, a real scenic experience. One for the bucket list

Super cool! At first when it starts driving, you have a weird feeling. You can feel it in your tummy that you’re in the air somehow ???? but you get used to it very quickly tho.
Only negative experience is the ticket buying. If you’re not familiar with the city and don’t speak German, it’s a real struggle. In my opinion, they have to review their system and make it easier for tourists to buy their tickets

Great experience, especially if you travel during the day. Most of the route goes over a small canal of sorts and is really picturesque.

Fun ride on the electric suspended railway with hanging cars in Wuppertal Schwebebahn (oldest in the world). It is still the local public transport in Wuppertal Schwebebahn (13.3km) and a unique system in Germany. The city looks very cool from the hight of 12 meters above the river Wupper, and 8 metters above the valey road. The rail also crosses A46 motorway. Great experience. I recommend it if you want to do something different.

That's really unique concept : Suspended Train. The ride is quite smooth and enjoyable. I was wonder to know that it has history of 120 yrs. It started serving people on 1901. Still it's being operated on the same principal today also. If you want to know more interesting facts about it you can see video filmed on Wuppertal Schwebebahn on my Youtube Channel : Go2touring.

The Schwebebahn is as cool as you would expect an upside down railway which runs largely over a river to be. Trains are frequent and punctual, very reasonably priced. Ticket machines, for non-German literate tourists, are difficult but not impossible. The kombi ticket that includes the zoo is especially good value as you get to skip the queues at the zoo!
