I came across the restaurant and liked the look and cozy feel of it. I don't speak or read German so it was a challenge to understand the menu. I did manage well enough to order the beef goulash with a side dish of what I believe were mushroom dumplings. Everything was delicious!

Ich liebe die österreichische Küche und fühlte mich im Kaier u0026 Schmarrn im Bohnenviertel sehr wohl. Das Ambiente überzeugt, man fühlt sich "wie unter Freunden". Das Essen war der Hammer! Ein gemütlich eingerichteter Gastraum mit einer kleinen Karte Österreischicher Gerichte.
Wir hatten Spinatknödel zur Vorspeise und zum Hauptgang Wiener Schnitzel mit Preiselbeeren und Kartoffelsalat und Kaiserfleisch mit Schnittlauchkartoffeln.
Während bei der Vorspeise zwischendurch gefragt wurde ob alles in Ordnung ist, war dies beim Hauptgang nicht mehr der Fall.
Was aus der Küche bei uns landete war geschmacklich top, optisch ließe sich aber noch etwas mehr rauskitzeln, z.B. mit etwas Schnittlauch oder Petersilie auf dem Kartoffelsalat oder einer kleinen Salatgarnitur beim Spinatknödel der 6 € kostet.
Der bei der Kellnerin bestelle Löffel um die sehr leckere Soße des Kaiserfleisch aufessen zu können wurde leider vergessen und erst nach 10 Minuten erlangten wir die Aufmerksamkeit des männlichen Kollegen.
Dieser reagierte sichtlich genervt auf den vergessen Löffel angesprochen, worauf er wortlos verschwand um dann einen Löffel zu bringen, naja kalte Soße ist jetzt nicht ganz so toll.
Ihn dann noch auf die Kälte im Lokal bei der Fensterfront angesprochen und das man die kalte Heizung schon vor der Bestellung bei der Kollegin angesprochen hatte, entlockte Ihm auch keine Reaktion.
Nicht mit Kritik umgehen zu können ist wie überall auch in der Gastronomie schade und wahrscheinlich war dies auch der Grund das man uns nicht fragte ob man noch was zu Trinken oder ein Dessert wolle.
Den Kaiserschmarrn gibt es übrigens erst ab 22 Uhr!?
Aufgrund der Serviceleistung nur drei Sterne, die Küchenleistung alleine hätte 4 Sterne verdient.

Das Essen war sehr lecker, leider wurde uns aber trotz der Bitte keine Menükarte gereicht, wodurch uns die sehr saftigen Preise erst später aufgestoßen sind. Darauf angesprochen reagierte man mit Empörung und rechtfertigte den Preis durch den Vergleich mit anderen Nobelrestaurants, wobei das Restaurant doch eher einen bürgerlichen Eindruck macht. Der Chef des Hauses versucht zwar eine persönliche Beziehung zu den Gästen aufzubauen, wirkt dabei allerdings hin und wieder sehr arrogant.
Achja und Kaiserschmarrn gibt es "natürlich" erst ab 22 Uhr.

Wäre der Chef nicht so unsympathisch gewesen und die Preise nicht so hoch, dann hätte der Geschmack des Essens 4-5 Sterne verdient.

Einrichtung ist ganz gemütlich. Das war dann aber auch fast das einzig Positive. Man kann dieses Lokal nicht weiterempfehlen.
1. der Ober ist unfreundlich, kann nicht korrekt servieren und überhörte/übersah unseren Wunsch auf weitere Getränke so lange wie möglich. Dass eine Beilage zuerst nicht gebracht wurde , weil man sie angeblich nicht bestellt hätte, dann aber doppelt berechnet wurde kann passieren. Das ist normalerweise kein Grund ein Lokal zu kritisieren. Aber hier passt es ins Bild.
2. Man bekommt nur ein Besteck. Nach der Vorspeise wurde mir Messer und Gabel mit dem Kommentar “wir haben zu wenig Besteck” (dabei war das Restaurant nur zu 2/3 voll) zurück auf die Tischplatte gelegt - ein absolutes ‘no go’.
3. Das Essen war nur mäßig lecker. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis passt einfach nicht. Nicht mal das Weinschorle hat geschmeckt.
4. Es lohnt nicht, auf den viel zu trockenen, aber immerhin kostenlosen, Kaiserschmarren, der erst um 23 Uhr serviert wurde, zu warten. Er schmeckt nur nach Mehl und Backpulver.

Fazit: der Name Kaiser passt weniger zu dem Lokal, der Name Schmarren dagegen sehr gut.

Das Konzept muss man verstehen. Alltägliches österreichisches Essen auf sehr hohem Niveau. Hauptgerichte und Beilagen kann man selbst kombinieren, so wie man Lust hat. Der Service zusammen mit der Küche ist absolut auf den Punkt. Als größere Gruppe haben alle gleichzeitig ihr Essen alla Minute aus der Küche bekommen und der Service gab erst dann "Ruhe", bis alle alles hatten! Das Ziel des Wirts ist, der Gast soll soll sich wohl fühlen. Das merkt man auch an dem Kaiserschmarrn, den es ab 22:00 umsonst für alle gibt!!!
