Every now and then there are wreaths and candles between the commemorative plaques, the lawn has been mowed and the grounds are clean. Directly adjacent is a hotel which provides light around the clock but makes the area look more like a hotel forecourt or park. My visit was therefore relatively emotionless. The moving aura that other places radiate on this topic is missing here. Ehr half-hearted documentation as an appropriate memorial. Something should be invested here in order to do justice to the topic and in connection with related exhibitions, etc. advertising should be made. This part of the story is dealt with in detail in schools, but comparable camps with more comprehensive memorial sites, for example in Alsace, are visited. Nicht ganz einfach zu finden da nicht ausgeschildert. Jahrelang dachte ich das Denkmal auf der anderen Straßenseite in Form eines ca 15m hohen Schwertes mit Datum auf der Parierstange sei das einzige was hier an das Gestapolager erinnert. Die Geschichte des Lagers in Text und Bild auf der Rückseite einer Mauer die in mehreren Sprachen mit dem Wort Hotel beschriftet ist wirkt etwas verstörend. Die Beschreibungen vermitteln dennoch eine gute Vorstellung wie es hier einmal ausgesehen hat und was geschehen ist. Einzig erhalten ist der alte Löschteich der mit seinem Zaun in Stacheldraht Optik und zwei Gedenktafeln im Boden davor das Zentrum der Gedenkstätte darstellt. Mehrere kleinere Tafeln und ein Wegweiser mit den Orten anderer Lager mit Entfernung sind zwar ein netter Versuch dem ganzen etwas Leben einzuhauchen was aber leider nichts an der etwas halbherzigen Anmutung des Geländes ändert. Hin und wieder liegen Kränze und Kerzen zwischen den Gedenktafeln, der Rasen ist gemäht und das Gelände sauber. Direkt angrenzend befindet sich ein Hotel welches zwar rund um die Uhr Licht spendet aber das Gelände ehr wie einen Hotelvorplatz oder Park wirken lässt. Mein Besuch war deshalb relativ emotionslos. Die ergreifende Aura die andere Plätze zu diesem Thema ausstrahlen vermisst man hier. Ehr halbherzige Dokumentations als angemessene Gedenkstätte. Hier sollte noch etwas investiert werden um dem Thema gerecht zu werden und in Verbindung mit artverwandten Ausstellungen usw Werbung gemacht werden. In Schulen wird dieser Teil der Geschichte zwar ausführlich behandelt, vergleichbare Lager mit umfassenderen Gedenkstätten zB im Elsass besucht. Lange her und weit weg ist der Eindruck der entsteht. Quasi vor der Haustür mit vielen wissenswertes Details einen solchen Platz zu haben würde sicherlich die Sicht auf die Dinge bei so manchem ändern.
