Eli.ja works closely with the Catholic University Community of Saarland University. This is located on the campus Saarbrücken. The Sunday service is for and from eli.ja as well as for the KHG.
In 1954 it was built according to plans by Prof. Thoma. Their layout represents the sacred rock, the garment of Jesus, which is kept in Trier Cathedral. A beautiful sign and at the same time our mission: Whoever comes into contact with the church should come into contact with Jesus' garment. eli.ja is one of the few - possibly the only - church from the 1950s, which has never been changed structurally. It is a testimony to the life and beliefs of a certain time. This step in dialogue with us today and the many offerings of the Church of Youth.

After eight years of attending mass at campus churches in the US, I felt out of place at the local basilica. Eli-ja made me feel at home again. The community here is alive and vibrant!

Ich liebe den kleinen Garten vor der Kirche!
Hier wird Obst und Gemüse angebaut und es gibt wundervolle Blumen!

Dort steht auch eine kleine Bank zum verweilen,sehr hübsch bunt angemalt und es gibt so etwas wie eine Outdoor Küche,die für jedermann zugänglich ist und wo sich offensichtlich jeder bedienen kann.

Toll finde ich auch die Möglichkeit,Brot oder andere Lebensmittel für Bedürftige dort in einer Art Brot Schrank zu parken oder wenn man bedürftig ist,sich dort einfach was nehmen zu dürfen.

Also,dieser Ort erscheint mir nicht vergleichbar mit dem,was man so unter Kirche kennt, alles ist bunt, freundlich und wirkt sehr einladend.

Ein toller Ort und würden die noch existierenden Kirchen sich von diesem Konzept eine Scheibe abschneiden,würden wahrscheinlich weniger Leute aus der Kirche austreten.
