We are crazy about Japan (have been there several times) and were looking for a quiet hotel outside of Nürnberg, so we thought that these Ryokan-style rooms were a great choice. Though the rooms were OK (clean and in good maintenance), there is hardly anything "ryokan-style" about them except for the small japanese garden out of the window: normal bed (no futon) and bad pillow, no bathtub (furo), any cosmetics besides hand soap were to be paid on the side (a 50ml shampoo bootle was 4,90€), no amenities for tea, etc. We also couldn't have dinner at the restaurant, as two parties (a wedding and something else) were taking place - making it quite loud in the afternoon/early evening. The staff was OK but no one offered to show us our room, least of it take our bags (the room was on the 2nd floor through a metal, narrow staircase, hidden at the back of the building). Breakfast was disappointing as the group from the previous evening arrived just before we did and many items (eggs, bacon, etc.) were gone. Though signage was abbundant, very few guests actually wore masks or respected social distancing of 1,5m, especially during breakfast.
To reach the city center, you must take the car or a cab.
