Great front desk service. Cheap, easy walk through the museum but lots of stairs. No english descriptions so have a translator or learn some Deutsche. Cool place though.

The city museum has the information about the history of the city Nuremberg. The whole transformation of how it used to be earlier as a kingdom, how it was destroyed and how it has come to life again is depicted very nicely here. It also has previously used finger accessories, crown, etc. One can get a lot of info on the city by visiting here.

The house that holds the musuem is beautiful. Its worthwhile to see the musuem just for the house. There is also an amazing wood model of Nurnberg. The 4th floor is currently closed for renovations (July 2022). No English Audio guides were available.

Comprehensive museum about Nuremberg city history. Excellent new exhibit on the Holy Roman Emperor and the city. Great city model on the top floor. In old, restored, upper middle class house ... rooms are also historic, not only the exhibits. We spent about 2 hours.

This museum is amazing. I loved the displays and the audio guide made it really interesting and immersed you in the history of each room. I would highly recommend a visit to this museum when you're in Nuremberg.

Stadtmuseum im Fembo-Haus is a well organised museum dedicated to the history of the city of Nuremburg. It is located within a large Renaissance period merchant's home along Burgstraße. Opening hours are 10am to 5pm daily. Entry is €6 per adult and includes an audio guide.
The Fembo House itself is impressive. Built in the late 16th-century as a multi-storied merchant's house, it has survived mostly in tact with minimal need for restorations over the centuries. Today it is used to showcase nearly 1000 years of local history for visitors eager to learn more about Nuremburg's past presented within the original rooms of the Fembo House.
Do make use of the audio guide which will help describe the many artworks, artefacts, maps and various audio presentations on offer. We very much liked the top floor 'Sounding City Model' and 12 minute presentation, which highlighted many of Nuremburg's important buildings on the huge model on display here.
In lower rooms, you will learn about important past industries, trade and crafts, the formation and rule by the city council and its relationship with the Bavarian rulers in past centuries. There is a picture of the Bavarian crown (original in the Hopsburg Treasury in Vienna) You'll see nice landscape artworks, be able to hear music which originated in Nuremburg and see nicely furnished rooms from the past.
Overall, we really liked the Nuremburg City Museum, finding it well curated and organised in an intuitive manner. You can go through most of the museum in an hour or so or stay longer if you are enjoying what you are seeing and learning about while here.
