I am sorry I realized how much Burghotel wasn’t eager to show any goodwill or sympathy during a period where Covid restrictions are applied.
Christmas market isn’t on the program this year so it’s legitimate to consider canceling a Christmas trip (2 nights accommodation u003d 260 euros). Cancellation in this case is NOT a choice, nor a free will, nor a lack in realizing plans.
Even without free cancellation policy, many hotels nowadays show good will and accept cancellation (sometimes with a small symbolic amount fee). Well we are sorry to see that Burghotel decided to make us pay the total stay even if we are not coming because of the pandemic. We negotiated a voucher or even postponing the stay. They won’t accept. We established a direct communication with them and a second one through booking.com assistance. In both cases they still stood up for their refusal.
Furthermore they argue their business is suffering from these Covid restrictions: businesses have survival strategies and other institutional supports. While us individuals should handle the total loss of 260 euros.
That’s without a doubt lack of professionalism.
