Ludwigskirche, in English Saint Ludwig, is a 19th century neo-romanesque church that is not very popular with tourists because it is somewhat remote from the touristic center of Munich. Don't let that dissuade you from taking the subway a couple of stations from Marienplatz to Universität to see it. You will see the second largest above altar mural painting in the world. Another major attraction is a fantastic church organ with an incredible sound. I was lucky that someone was playing it during my visit.

It is an architectural gem between Siegstor and odeonplatz. a catholic church with old paintings and statues but very vast and beautiful to visit. There's also a big oregon to play

As long as they don’t disrupt you with playing the piano while you are focused on the rosary and Eucharistic adoration...which happened ofc. Otherwise beautiful Catholic Church. Please don’t play anything beside the Organ...that’s what the Vatican says and what everyone should cling to...

The Catholic Parish and University Church St. Louis also referred to as Ludwigskirche is located along Ludwigstrasse in Munich. This is a a large Neo-Romanesque style church built by German architect Friedrich von Gärtner between 1829-44.

The church features an attractive facade with two towers and a nice portico with ceiling frescos. The interior features a deep barrel vault nave and impressive frescos. The nave is nicely lined with modestly decorated columns. The two side aisles are nice to see as well.

The most memorable part of our visit was the very large Peter von Cornelius 'Last Judgment' fresco behind the altar. This is a huge and attractive artwork, one that really sticks out from a visit to Ludwigskirche. In fact, viewing the Cornelius fresco alone is worth the quick visit to the church.

In the end, we liked our visit to Ludwigkirche, it is worth a 15-20 minute visit and can be conveniently included in your sightseeing plans if you plan to visit the Odenplatz, Museum District or western side of the English Gardens during your time in Munich.

I just walked by and noticed the gorgeous tiled roof. Unfortunately it’s hard to get a good view from the street. It’s a plain church in a city of lavish ones but beautiful nonetheless.

Magnificent church. I've added s several photos which speak better of the church's beauty than my words. The church is slightly off the beaten track - away from the centre of Munich but well worth the walk

The double impression of this church. On the one side, the facade looks interesting, but on the other, as soon as you look at the roof of the church, you fall into a stupor. It seems that it was covered with multi-colored woolen embroidery, and this looks very bad.
