Church of the Saviour (Salvatorkirche) is a small Gothic style church that dates back to the late 15th-century. This was a former cemetery church of the large and important Frauenkirche in the Old Town. Today, the church serves the Greek Orthodox community.
The present church has a modest Gothic exterior and interior as well as religious images typically found in Greek Orthodox churches. Yellow ribbed vaults add nice complementary colour to the interior, providing an interesting change of scenery to the many Baroque and Rococo churches scattered around the city.
You can find Salvatorkirche near to the impressive Theatine Church and just west of Odeonsplatz. Have a look when you are in the area if you enjoy viewing old churches. It is a small building that can be viewed in 10 minutes or so.
