Holiday Inn Munich - South, an IHG Hotel

An excellent hotel - perhaps surprisingly so for a city suburb. Very quiet - I had a room overlooking the large gardens and got an excellent sleep even on a very hot night with the balcony door open. Having dinner on the terrace is a treat. The breakfast is not cheap but there's great quality and choice so it's definitely worth it if you like breakfast to set you up for the day. And all the staff were really friendly and helpful. I was sad to leave!

I stayed here for 1 week. The hotel is situated a few minutes walk from an underground station and it takes about 15 minutes to travel to the City centre.

The room was spacious and very clean and had a balcony (but no balcony table or chairs). Good roomy bathroom but some of the towels provided were thin and "scratchy". The duvet seemed very small for the bed but, as I was travelling alone. was sufficient for me but had my partner been with me this would have been a problem. Whilst I appreciate that the reception has a safe box facility, in this day and age, every room should have a room safe.

The breakfast buffet offered a fairly good choice but at 20 euros is expensive when compared to what other Holiday Inns in Germany charge for a similar offering.

It was very pleasant to sit on the terrace looking over a tranquil garden with a fountain whilst having a beer. I enjoyed a number of "bar meals" whist I was staying here - good quality and reasonably charged. The bar staff are to be commended for their friendly, efficient service.

I also enjoyed using the hotel's swimming pool - a good facility.

We chose this hotel given that it had a good advance payment deal and that it was convenient to public transportation. Check in was efficient. The room is a bit small by American standards. The shower controls were a bit difficult to figure out, and the water pressure is weak.
It can be difficult to get washcloths. The Internet service (Wifi) was spotty and can only accommodate one device per room. We could have used a few more electrical outlets.

All that said, the room was clean and comfortable. The neighborhood was safe, and access to public transportation was easy. Front desk staff were friendly. We did not use the dining facilities so we cannot rate them. Generally, besides the nit-picky points above, we were quite satisfied with our stay.

We enjoyed our stay in this Hotel and would recommend it to other guests.
The Hotel is clean, just a 5 min walk to the underground in a quiet location, offers good value for money and the staff is very friendly.
The restaurant offered us a very good quality dinner.
There are no major negative points: The family room was a bit small with 2 children and baggage and the WiFi was sometimes too slow.

The location was great, just 5 minutes from U-bahn and 15 minutes from Marienplatz. Friendly staff and clean rooms! The wellness facilities can get a bit crowded and the sauna was out of order at the time of our visit. Overall, we had a great visit and we would definitely recommend this hotel!

Pros:

This hotel is close to the U Bahn so you're able to get into downtown easily.
It offers parking at a decent rate.
Breakfast was also good with many options.
We were allowed to check in early which was very helpful.
It has a pool which is a hit with kids.

Cons:

Very dated decor and some disrepair.
The bed was like sleeping in a hammock - the mattress needed to be replaced.
The pool was great but the sauna was closed and the lockers in the locker rooms either didn't have keys for the locks or the lock keys where missing so there was no point in following their suggestion of leaving your belonging in the lockers.
I've stayed in Holiday Inns all over the world and this property isn't up to the usual standards.

Welcomed as Rewards Club member at check-in. Given room upgrade with complimentary mini-bar (nice touch!). Great value for cost of room. Staff at check-in and check-out very friendly and courteous. Sufficient luggage carts, easy access to parking under the building. Good sized elevators. Easy to maneuver luggage carts. Great room. Very fresh and modern. Nice bed, suggest other pillows (more firm) in addition to using only feather pillows, sufficient electrical outlets for devices. Lighting adequate, but could be a bit brighter. Nice bathroom, plenty of amenities. Nice furniture ... modern and comfortable. Located in the Munich suburbs, very quiet neighborhood, easy access to downtown and autobahn. A very hot day outside, great air conditioning, easy to relax. Will definitely stay here again.
