On a sunny Sunday afternoon we went to this place, chose cakes inside at the counter and sat down outside. This place was recommended to me by my good boss but unfortunately I was very disappointed.
It took a while until a server came to get us the menu even though she knew we were there. And it took fairly long for her to come back to take our orders. And the whole time she was cold and rude towards us.
The cakes and coffees tasted absolute mediocre. I could get much better sweets at a convenient store in Japan for sure!
The lady came back when we wanted to pay and that was the only time she put a bit of effort to be teeny weeny bit nice to us but it sounded so fake I didn’t appreciate any of it.
I have to say I cannot recommend this place to anyone. I will not come back to pay for such bad service and mediocre cakes.

Traditional and long-known café in the heart of Munich, just a few meters from Odeonsplatz. In addition to food, there is also an attached pastry shop. Highly recommended and famous is the Luitpold Torte, which is also often bought as a souvenir.

The service is a bit old-school and not always friendly. The food is rather classic, not quite cheap.

Starting with the positives, service was every friendly, the food came right away and the place itself is wonderful. The expectations of Cafe Luitpold are justifiably high if you consider they are had been in the Michelin Guide and are an institution itself.
So we went for brunch and had the Rösti with Parma Ham and Eggs, which were good but not overwhelmingly so.
My partner had the Salmon cubes with Fish caviar, Tartar of avocado and tomato with some cream and it was utterly disappointing. No seasoning whatsoever, the products were good, good quality of ingredients but it is quite underwhelming to have a place like this, serving food below par. Will try again in February and hope to have a better impression then.

Very popular, very busy and very old school style. The decorations inside remind one of the golden age, but you can clearly see everything is a bit worn out.

I tried one chocolate cake and it tasted pretty ok but nothing special. I have also ordered a pot of black tea. In total, the bill came up to 10.5 euros. I wouldn’t call it cheap even in Munich.

We came for lunch on a Tuesday and the only thing I would complain is that the servers kept telling us to wait a few minutes before seating us but totally forgot. We bugged probably 2-3 servers that we had a reservation but they were pretty busy that we stoof waiting for 15-20 mins. At some point we just walked in and found a seat ourselves. Once we did get served, our waitress was very nice and attentive. We started off with a glass of Riesling wine, which was lovely and then some Flammkuchen with Südtiroler Speck and onions which was absolutely delicious. If you love Flammkuchen, I definitely recommend it. I love the crispy flat dough that's slightly charred on the side from the oven and the Speck and onions were so aromatic and flavorful. For desert was a classic Apfel Strudel that came with a generous helping of cream which I got carried away and drowned the Apfel Strudel in but hey, I like my cream so no regrets.
