Following Chanterelles in season – SpecialMenu
A quaint little place with lovey outdoor sitting area. We visited it excited by their seasonal Pfifferlingen menu. We did not have a reservation, but it worked out just fine. We got a nice table outside. Their chanterelle menu is not extensive, but sufficient. The service was good and prompt. Our server, Jenny, was very friendly. We ordered beef tartar for an appetizer, two soups, the filet, and fried chanterelles in butter, served with a baguette. Our order got mixed up a little, and instead of fried mushrooms, we got a schnitzel. The chanterelle sauce on it looked really good, but when we asked about the meat used for the cutlet, we were informed that it was pork. Since we don’t eat pork, we had to send it back. The correct replacement was sent to the table after a bit of time, so we ate all the other food before it got to us Soup portion was not that large, it was more of a cup than a bowl. Also, it was a oversalted. The tartar had a good flavor, but was spread out thinly on a slice of bread. We did not care much for this way of serving it, as it came out to be too much bread and not enough tartar; basically it was a very small portion. The steak was prepared correctly, medium rare, juicy and tasty. The mushrooms on top were just a bunch of fried chanterelles, though generous amount; no sauce. Meat was good, but we were really there for the mushrooms. It was very basic, and exactly the same as Chanterelle and baguette dish, fried mushrooms with a side of bread, no sauce. Overall, it was an ok dinner, but not fantastic.
