Tried their beef tartar, wow, i loved it! The salad complemented the beef greatly too, perfect meal. The waiter recommended me with a white wine, i liked it as well. I am not some wine connoisseur, but the food was good, the wine was good as well (did not change into weird taste after the food), so i am happy!

(Translated by Google) Relax and enjoy in the middle of Mannheim city center. We are always amazed that there is a little oasis for wine lovers just a few steps away from the planks. The Coq au vin is part of the engelhorn gastronomy and is positioned with a focus on wine and small corresponding dishes. Accordingly, the menu is not very large; however, additional dishes are added, which change daily. Yesterday we had gambas with a delicious risotto (highly recommended). The classics include the tartare (nicely seasoned) and tarte flambée.
The highlight, however, is the wine selection. Home to many of the region's great wineries, this is no coincidence. The restaurant management has excellent contacts to the wineries in the region. In the pre-Corona period, there was also a monthly winemaker get-together, at which representatives of the wineries in the Coq au vin presented their winery and their wines. We look forward to reviving this tradition!
However, I would also like to emphasize the very good service, which always gives very competent advice on the choice of the right wine and the wishes for meals and otherwise always has an open ear (here it also pays to have continuity in the workforce over years) .
After a shopping trip, we always find the opportunity to end a busy day here.

Entspannen und genießen mitten in der Mannheimer Innenstadt. Wir sind jedes Mal begeistert, dass man nur wenige Schritte von den Planken entfernt eine kleine Oase für Weinliebhaber findet. Das Coq au vin ist Teil der engelhorn-Gastronomie und positioniert mit Schwerpunkt Wein und kleine korrespondierende Gerichte. Dementsprechend ist die Speisekarte nicht sehr groß; es werden jedoch täglich wechselnd, zusätzliche Gerichte ergänzt. Wir hatten gestern Gambas mit einem leckeren Risotto (sehr zu empfehlen). Zu den Klassikern gehört das Tartar (schön gewürzt) sowie Flammkuchen.
Highlight ist jedoch die Weinauswahl. Hier findet man viele der großen regionalen Weingüter und dies ist kein Zufall. Die Restaurantleitung verfügt über exzellente Kontakte zu den Weingütern in der Region. In der Vor-Corona-Zeit gehörte auch ein monatlicher Winzerstammtisch, an welchem Vertreter der Weingüter im Coq au vin ihr Weingut und ihre Weine präsentierten, zum Angebot. Wir freuen uns schon auf die Wiederaufnahme dieser Tradition!
Hervorheben möchte ich jedoch auch den sehr guten Service, welcher bei der Wahl des richtigen Weins und den Wünschen bei Speisen stets sehr kompetent berät und auch sonst stets ein offenes Ohr hat (hier macht es sich auch bezahlt über Jahre Kontinuität in der Belegschaft zu haben).
Wir finden hier nach einem Shopping-Ausflug immer die Gelegenheit einen intensiven Tag schön ausklingen zu lassen.
