If you're not an art fan, do not come to this place ????

So many tiny + big galleries!

Free of charge, beside one big gallery that asked for 4 euros.

It was a bit disappointing that few of the galleries were close or open but didn't welcome visitors.

The place is just beautiful.
Take your time and try to see as much as you can before 5pm.

I was exhausted but satisfied.

I’m generally not really into art. But the art up is interesting you can just wander this area and there are lots of little galleries and some shops that sell things. It was cool to do for an hour or two. I think people that really enjoy art would love to spend time here.

It’s not open on Monday, some galeries open at 1PM, others only 2 days a week… come on, if you create a common artistic space, get a little organized.

Great area, unfortunately no cafe or bistro open in March, lot of galleries closed at the time. At least great (and huge) shop with everything artist may think about was open. But I guess during the summer (especially evenings) it must be amazing place.

A really cool concept, a lovely space being used as an artist village. Einen Besuch ist es wert.

The 45 minute tour is also worth it, especially if you'd like to get an overview before you start exploring yourselves.

The attraction of the old factory is surely its buildings. The current renters have nothing to do with creating any form of garments. A few dull galleries with predictable art and some media companies occupy the bricks. The good thing it’s left untouched so you actually have to watch your step since it’s not paved for pedestrian purposes. It’s as was. With cracks and warning signs you might get hit by falling snow from the roof. We were here in summer. So, we survived.

this site was by 1907 the biggest cotton-spinning mill in continental Europe. This fascinating factory town, including workers’ homes, allotment gardens as well as the factory kindergarten, has survived intact to this day. In 1992 the then obsolete cotton-yarn factory complex has opened for redevelopment. It was mostly artists who acted as the pioneers of revitalisation here, and as a consequence the Spinnerei has become home to more than 100 studios today.

In addition to the artists, the area has attracted musicians, dancers, craftspeople, architects, traders, printers, designers and many others who have have set up shops and studios in the Spinnerei. By the end of 2004, the Spinnerei had become well known as a centre for artistic production, today the Spinnerei is home to 14 galleries and exhibitions. The Spinnerei is an authentic, historic factory complex which has embraced art as the new way of using the old factory buildings for a new purpose. The site is part of the district of Lindenau. There are displays of all kind of work, both by locals and art students in an area which has enjoyed great rejuvenation.
If you are looking for an alternative place where to relax, enjoy art and chill over some snacks or drinks, you will be delighted of all the surprises you will find here!

To get there go by tram number 14 and get of at Plagwitz or take the S-Bahn S1 to Leipzig-Plagwitz.
