Not impressed at all, unfortunately. My husband and I were looking forward to trying this new restaurant, but it was far from impressing. I had the spätzle and chicken and it was just not good. The spätzle were bland and needed a lot of help from salt, and the chicken was tough! I really don´t like to eat chicken on the bone, so my husband had the 2 little pieces with bone and I had the little piece without bone. I had a hard time pulling the chicken apart and I don´t think, I have ever had chicken that hard to eat before. I can´t imagine what they did to make it that way. Combined my dish wash bland, chewie and mooshy. It really needed something making the texture of the combined dish more inviting, and it definately needed flavour.
My husband was over-all happy with the fish, and likes the creamy leaks (Rahmlauch), and at first, as the food-optimist he is, he was happy with the dish. As he thought about it, it wasn´t really that great. He also needed a lot of salt on his, the potatoes were a little grainy, but he liked the fish a lot. He also liked the creamy leaks, but as he said, it is not what he comes to a restaurant to get, as it is a little to simple and boring and also needed salt.
One thing that really annoyed us both was the 2 oven-baked tomatoes on both our dishes. I can see and some pictures of other dishes, that this restaurant fancy throwing these on a lot of dishes. But baked tomatoes don´t go well on everything! You can not just re-use garnish on whatever dish you want. It just made the dish even more mooshy.
I wanted a beer, but they did not have any dark beer, that I like, so I had the homemade limonade as I am not that fund of soda either, and the limonade came with bubbles, which I tried to avoid by ordering the limonade, and it was not that good either. Nothing special at all.
As one of the dishes came with a schwarzbier sauce, we asked the waitress if they maybe had a beer for me, but she just said no without really caring to ask in the kitchen.
A couple of advices: Season the food better, think about creating a textural experience in the meal, only use garnish on the dish if it suits the dish and not just because it is convenient, and motivate the staff to be a little more up to beat. We will not be coming back but wish you all the best and hope you improve with experience.
