A good place to learn and get a feel about the history of life in East Germany and the peaceful revolution in 1989 that led to the unification of Germany. Too bad there is no English explanation on the exhibited items but good to have an audioguide in English.

Amazing architecture and outside eateries abound. My first walk around Leipzig. Beautiful.

Fantastic, only €5 for the audio guide and admission is free. Definitely go if you're in Leipzig.

It would be valuable for the visitor's experience if the signs of the exhibits were also in English. The audio guide gives only some general info about what you see. Overall it is worth visiting. The feeling is a little bit depressing when you realise under how much pressure and surveillance were the people. But finally it's enlightening.

If you can't read German then head into the middle of the museum and get the audio guide for your language; it's very informative. A graphically informative guide to life behind the iron curtain. A friend and I spent nearly two hours touring the museum and I'm still discussing aspect's of it with freidns now. Well worth a visit.

Excellent museum, like everyone else I wish it had English language captions but the audio guide does a good job of the details, and 5 euros is a price well worth paying.

You'll definitely learn some interesting and macabre new details about the Stasi, no matter how exposed you consider yourself to the subject to be.

The museum is kind of weird. It looks very improvised, and just not very modern.
It offers an amazing insight of how the Stasi operated and the amount of work and control they had, so in my opinion this museum has an incredible historical value - especially as it is right in the former Stasi HQ. But the museum could really need an overhaul. No place for coats or backpacks!
