If touristy bars are not your thing but you are new to/visiting Hannover, Quarks is a perfect local pub. The owner/bartender is fluent in multiple languages, friendly with his patrons and will introduce you to his regulars, even helping to translate conversations when needed. It is a delightful bar and I consider myself lucky to have found it.
Side Note: I hadn't expected to find Willett Bourbon so easily in Germany but for a bar that specializes in Rum (140 different kinds), here we are. Impressive!
