Old time charm with fantastic cakes and THE best hot chocolate (Wiener Schokolade) it’s a must when you visit Hannover. Also does a lovely breakfast….

Got cake and tea here. The cake is not the best, tea was like always, earl grey. The staff here however... either the place is severely understaffed it has a very poor staff distribution. We were there on July 29th, it was very busy and they only had 1 waitress really doing everything. They had 2 other guys helping around here and there but they didn't take orders or give checks. The woman, Maria, did everything and was running left and right. Cheers to her. There were 3 or 4 other waiters behind the cake stand. But nobody was ordering cake so they stood and chit chatted, not assisting with taking orders or making food. After half an hour we decided to pay at the front instead of waiting for the waitress (who was still running around doing everything), when we approached the register, we also brought our dirty plates and cups with to make it somewhat easier for the waitress, we were not welcomed, thanked or given any smiles. The waitresses took the dishes and were utterly rude. Especially the woman with brown hair and glasses. We asked if we could pay she barked at us "no, go pay at your table" with a mean look and then turned her back to us and continued gossiping with a colleague. We felt discomfort, unappreciated and treated horribly. The manager was there and didn't distribute the staff, instead he closed the inside of the Cafe and didn't assist. Hope this place pulls it together soon, for the sake of Maria and the guests.

Beware CASH ONLY! But, cake and hot chocolate as good as 45 years ago when we started eating here. Top coffee stop for Hannover if you want an authentic experience. Cake portions are large and you order cake at the counter and are given a ticket. Find a seat and a waiter will take your drinks order and take the ticket to retrieve your cake. Great for people watching.

This place became a core memory. I still cannot forget how amazing this cocoa was. A true experience. Only downside is smoking is allowed outside unlike New York where not allowed in parks or outside restaurants.

Staff is nice, the menu is in German only! This has not helped me to know what’s the menu and what’s good. The waiter did help us however for me I can’t eat meat so it was also another issue. Overall sweets are great, coffee is great too.

Classic, old-school cafe with a good location. Pros - very good hot chocolate u0026 a good dessert selection.

Cons - service is lacking (even for German standards), very unfriendly staff (on every visit I had over several years).

Food and coffee are fine however the service was extremely lacking.

The place does not accept card, with no sign, and the waiter insisted we go to a cash machine and get notes to pay the second after bringing our breakfast.
Without any titles, without any manners or apologise from him.
Then looked offended when I said "no", to leaving my breakfast which had just arrived to get him money and pay before I had eaten. I also noticed we were the only table to be asked or expected to do this!
Do you have a problem with people under 30? English primary school teachers? What?

Manager is the same word in English and German, and the staff pretended not to understand this when I asked to speak to the manager to complain about this service.

The service needs to be improved significantly before anyone heads here again.
