Göttingen Seven Monument

Very interesting big monument consisting of a few statues. It represents historical Göttingen Seven - a group of professors from Göttingen university who protested against the cancellation of the Hannover constitution. Among them there were famous the Brothers Grimm.
Located on the way from the old city center to the New Tower Hall.

I stumbled on this place quite by accident. I think it's really well placed, and the trees are a nice touch. The statues and the gate are beautiful.
No tourists around at all. To understand what it's about though, you have to be able to understand German. Otherwise you can't read the placque.

This sculptural ensemble stands in tribute to the Gottingen Seven, the group of seven liberal professors from Göttingen who opposed the attempt of Ernst Augusta to change the constitution of the Kingdom of Hanover. Their stance is considered to be The efforts of the Göttingen Seven outlived each of them, and the forerunner of a liberal republic in Modern Germany.

Its was really amazing place. The sculptures were nicely designed and details were very good. Once should definitely have some pictures here as memory.

Nice sculpture - an English translation would have helped. We resorted trying to find out more on the internet, without luck

Not quite far away from the train station. Nice place to take picture at and great place to memorize them.
