An old church which was destroyed during the World War II. Now it's left in ruins as a war memorial. It's a sad but very impressive place.
One wall of the church is covered with leaves which looks very nice like a symbol that the life will win a war in the end.
Located very close to the New Town Hall.

One of the underrated sites in Hanover.
This is not to far from the center and it is definitely worth your time.

You can spend few minutes inside and take in all the quiet and peace the place offers. It is also photo worthy ☺️

Right in the middle of the city, a peaceful place.. not very crowded as well.

A reminder or horrors of war that don't differentiate based on religion.

I used it for shelter during the rain.. Had a good experience visiting it. It is right between the other buildings and can be difficult to find if you are walking.

A great reminder of the horrors of war and why peace should be treasured. I get shivers down my spine every time I enter the Aegidienkirche. With its partnership with Hiroshima it is such a powerful place and you can really feel the horror and sorrow of the people that lived during these horrible times in Germany, Japan, and everywhere else where WWII was fought. I hope we never forget the innocent lives that were lost. The Aegidienkirche is a piece of living history which reminds us to never repeat the devastating mistakes that were made during WWII (on all sides). In war there are no winners and no heroes; there are only loser and those who needlessly died defending a flawed ideology.

Very beautiful historical place to visit. This is definitely one of the place to go.You will uncover old time from world war II. It was destroyed in World War II, and was left in ruins as a war memorial. The church was built in the 14th century in the centre of Hanover, succeeding a chapel, and a Romanesque church built in 1163.

This church left a deep memory in my heart. Very strong sentiments and lots of thoughts. Built in XIV and one of the three churches in the Hannover’s old city, it was partially destroyed during the WWII and now serves as a memorial for those who died in wars. It is also a part of « Roter Faden Hannover » touristic route.
